Illuminating your Bathroom

All the time we are asked to remodel bathrooms, and most of the attention is focused on the tiles, the shower, the toilet and the sink, the cabins and the towel racks. But it is also important to take a look above, and pay attention to the ceiling and a crucial factor: the lights.

Illuminating a bathroom has a golden rule: the light, whether it is direct, indirect, or mixed, must never dazzle or blind you. It is important, of course, that the light is strong enough to let you see clearly every detail of your skin in the mirror, show the colors as they actually are, and highlight the beauty of the whole room, but in a way that shadows are as soft as possible. Neon lights behind a translucid ceiling are a good choice to create such an effect, and so are big white bulbs.

Concerning the sink and the vanity, lateral or symmetric distributions of the lights are the very best. The way lights are distributed in the actors´ dressing rooms in theaters is the ideal one for taking the best of your vanity, for instance.

The other important factor to keep in mind is safety. Due to the fact a bathroom is a place where wáter is used, electricity requires special care. The shower or the bathtub are considered as “red zones”, where no plugs, switches or sockets can be located. The same principle is applied in the “yellow zone”, around the red one (at least one meter away). Electric devices and switches can be located in the “green zone”, far from the water flows. Remember: electric or electronic devices should never be touched or operated while you are wet and/or barefoot.

Every bathroom has, of course, its own conditions to look at its best. But no matter how you want it to be, we are here to help you make it real!
