Remodeling a kitchen is always a great investment, and this means that it is not necessarily expensive. In old houses, details such as uncovered or rusty pipes, the wear, and tear of finish, fat accumulation, stains, etc, may require a great deal of attention, but there are affordable solutions for such issues.

The first step can be eliminating all of the old pipes, switches,  painting the whole place. Then, accessories such as garbage cans and similar things can be changed for others. Metal and porcelain are timeless materials at the time of decorating, so it is good to find first or second-handed doorknobs, cabin handlers, etc. Things like old clocks, paints, rags, etc can be removed, bringing new things that match with the new colors of the kitchen, which most important step for a new look is painting the walls.

Details like flowers, wine cellars and furniture, complete this first part of the job. Of course, the size and the shape of the kitchen are crucial aspects to be taken into account at the time of organizing the position of things, with the following considerations:

The place to store the food must be near the door, with enough space to put the groceries when you arrive from the supermarket.

The surface to prepare food must be near, too, and you need it to be at least one yard long. A countertop is the most useful choice.

The oven must, preferably, be no more than two steps away from the countertop or the aforementioned surface.

The dishwasher must be very close or next to the countertop, so washing vegetables or washing dishes is easy. We insist on using a countertop, as it helps you keep all the ítems at hand.

Countertops also make serving the food easier.

The spaces for walking in the kitchen must have at least one and a half yards, so two people can interact in the place. In small kitchens, a Little less tan a yard can do. Nevertheless, a kitchen should never be the main traffic area.

Last, but not least: ventilation and illumination are crucial. A kitchen requires fresh air to take away accumulated odors and light to look fresh and appealing.
